In 2012, Yakima Specialties received our first CARF certification, a very important credential to the providers of human services. In 2015, and again in 2018, YSI was re-certified for another 3 years.
CARF is an international accreditation organization that provides Certification of Excellence to a variety of service providers. Providers that meet CARF standards have demonstrated their commitment to being among the very best available. CARF accreditation signals a service provider's commitment to continually improving services, encouraging feedback, and serving the community.
Becoming CARF certified was a 9-month process that involved creating documentation as well as procedures and policy and backing these items up with community activity. The process included an on-site inspection covering all phases of the operation from safety and operational logistics to financial and facility considerations.
The CARF certification enables Yakima Specialties to assist Department of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) clients as well as those from DSHS Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) to prepare for and find employment in the community. DDA assists people with developmental issues while DVR assists people with barriers to employment regardless of the nature of the barrier.
